Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pig
The Pot Bellied Pigs were first domesticated in Asia before 6000 BC, However, the first Pot Bellied Pig was not brought into the U.S. until 1985 by Mr. Connell. Many arrived soon after making the Pot Bellied Pig a popular pet.
The average life span is 12 years of age
Pot Bellied Pigs are extremely intelligent and social making them wonderful pets. Although, their size is not always taken into consideration since they are so cute and tiny as babies, therefore many forget that they will grow to be quite a large animal. Many start at being raised in the house and later being sent out as a yard pet. Either way they are great pets. If raised in the house they may be litter box trained very easily and fed with a bottle making them even more tame.On average they have loving and friendly temperament, but ordinarily do not like to be held. Do keep in mind that they love mud holes and no matter where they are in your yard will construct one. We love our Pot Belly Pigs! Maggie was our first Pot Belly Pig which was raised in the house and Suga, one of Maggie's babies, was the first to be bottle fed. At any time we can go out and call to Suga and she will come running.
